Could it be? Dems to kill pork?

From AP:

Democrats tidying up a cluster of unfinished spending bills dumped on them by departing Republican leaders in Congress will start by removing billions of dollars in lawmakers' pet projects next month.
The move, orchestrated by the incoming chairmen of the House and Senate Appropriations committees, could prove politically savvy even as it proves unpopular with other members of Congress, who as a group will lose thousands of so-called earmarks.

"There will be no congressional earmarks," Rep. David Obey, D-Wis., and Sen. Robert Byrd, D-W.Va., said Monday in a statement announcing their plans, which were quickly endorsed by incoming Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., and soon-to-be Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D- Nev.

Can it be? The king of pork wants to curtail it? Maybe he figures he can stop now that everything in West Byrd-ginia is named after him, he can stop? One can only hope...

But, then...

Obey and Byrd said lawmakers could re-apply for home-state projects next year when Congress turns to the fiscal 2008 budget cycle _ after reforms of the earmarking process are put in place.

Darn.

I was wondering if you can't just enable "comment moderation" to silence your not so anonymous mental case? Even if you are using haloscan I think you can enable it.

On another topic, I found your blog on Technorati and some of what you said caught my interest. But, I would be less than honest if I didn't tell you that the tone of many of your posts make it sound like you are only interested in preaching to the choir. That would be a loss to the blogging community if that is all that you are interested in.

You have a real talent for bringing out points, but when you turn around and then baste your words with snide comments and dripping sarcasim, you turn off those of us that are Liberally oriented from listening to your message.

But, as I just mentioned, maybe you really do not want liberals to read your posts? Anyway, I intend to continue subscribing for a while longer and hopefully I will get a chance to read some trully passionate posts that deal with facts and are stated in a convincing straight forward manner. It isn't easy, I know. I certainly forget my own advice from time to time, so I hope you won't think that I am trying to be holier-than-thou.

Good luck with getting rid of your pest. Maybe its momma will find out and ground it from the computer for awhile. Santa is going to find out who has been naughty and nice.

Hey, thanks for the suggestions.

As for comment moderation, I had it a while back, but I don't check my e-mail often enough. I don't want anyone thinking that I might not allow their comments to be posted because the authorization is languishing away in an e-mail account I might not check for the rest of the day.

I have no problem with liberals reading this blog. The people I have a problem with are those on the far left, those whose only emotion when they hear of the death or illness of a Republican or conservative is glee. I want those people exposed. If I'm coming down too harshly on a mainstream liberal, feel free to bring it to my attention.

Also on the comments, if I think a comment is particularly nasty, there's always a trash can feature, so I can dump the post.
