ROME (AP) - Vatican archaeologists have unearthed a sarcophagus believed to contain the remains of the Apostle Paul that had been buried beneath Rome's second largest basilica.
The sarcophagus, which dates back to at least A.D. 390, has been the subject of an extended excavation that began in 2002 and was completed last month, the project's head said this week.

AD 390? Did some Liberal Roman Senators manage to overturn the death penalty and just let Paul rot in prison for a very, very, very looooong time?
390 is probably the earliest date verifiable. Doesn't mean it's actually from 390.
True. Or the body could have been reburied later in a more permanent container. Interesting discovery.
I guess the only way we'll know for sure is testing. Any relatives of St. Paul still alive?:)
